hello! I'm looking for a great MALE vocal piece from a musical, preferably Broadway to audition for Fiddler on the Roof. I am a Tenor 2, almost baritone. (I can just hit a g if that helps) and im 17. The song doesn't need to be related to the play at all, and I'm not auditioning for a specific role.

THANK YOU so much if you have a suggestion.

broadway2010 Has anyone else seen Shout? It's a jukebox musical about women in the 60s and it's really cute. I saw it a few weeks ago with my friends and we all had a blast. It's touring in Chicago now so if you're in the area you should check it out!

Hi, I'm new to this community, but I thought maybe you could help me.

In the fall, I'm auditioning for my school's musical "Little Shop of Horrors." For the audition, I need to sing a song from a Broadway musical, but I'd like one that has music similar to the style of that in Little Shop. This is hard, since I'm mostly familiar with the old-timey musicals like Carousel and Oklahoma. Any suggestions for a song from a newer, more rock-style musical?

10:14 pm - I need a song

I need some help. Ive been asked to sing at a ceremony during senior week and Im on my own as far as picking a song. Another girl is singing as well so we thought we might do a duet. We have distinctly different voices. (For instance she played Little Sally in Urinetown and I played Mama Morton in Chicago)

Can anyone think of a song that we could sing together... it doesn't have to be written as a duet as we can get it arranged for 2 people. It just has to be "graduation-y". The first thing that popped into my head was "Theres Gotta Be SOmething Better Than This" from Sweet Charity but I think the administration would frown upon that.

Also.. it doesn't neccessarily have to be from a musical and it could be funny or sappy. Either is fine.

If you can't think of something that could be a duet... what about 2 solos?

10:39 am - A capella auditioning?

I recently found out that our local theatre company will be mounting a production of one of my all time favorite shows: Ragtime!

I even thought oof the perfect song with which to audition. The problem is that the score for this song or show do not exist for purchase.

So I'm curious as to what everyone's opinions are about auditioning a capella?

(I am a lyric soprano and the song showcases my voice nicely, which means it is rather high. I prefer to be supported in that range simply b/c it sounds better to me, but it isn't necessary.)

5:09 pm - Hello!

I see there are a lot of singers on this site! I'm gathering up people to record the whole show of Les Miserables in English, Spanish, German, Japanese, and Czech! Just for fun of course.

If you're interested, go here and audition!

2:37 pm - callbacks?

Hi everyone, I am not good at this and I bet most of you know better: when you get a callback, is it bad form to sing the same piece you brought to the first audition? What protocol do you all usually follow? Thanks in advance, I have no idea ;)

5:11 pm - I'm new... so hi!

I've been posting frantically in every community I'm in, looking for help with an audition.  I'll be auditioning for Seussical the Musical really soon, and it's with a professional theatre that requires a short monologue and 2 songs of contrasting styles but in the same style as the show.  I've looked online and through my sheet music.... but I can't think of anything.  Can anyone help me?  You'd be my hero forever.

I'm a mezzo, thinking about going for Mrs. Mayor, and I know she's not a huge character, but I just want her for some reason.  I can hit higher notes on a good day, but I'm positive I'll be really nervous so I'm trying to stay away from songs with tons of higher notes.

Thank you so much in advance.

9:53 pm - kiss me, kate

My Gilbert and Sullivan company is holding auditions for "Kiss Me, Kate," and they ask for two contrasting songs from the show or something similar. Rock musicals are not acceptable. I have some sheet music from KMK, but can anyone give me some advice on some good audition songs for this show? I'm 16, 5'2, and between a mezzo and an alto, but I can sing up to mid-second soprano (unfortunately, I don't know my range), but somehow I always end up singing the wrong song for my voice.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all! I'm new to this community, and I thought I'd post a list I've been working on of overdone audition songs (and shows). Please feel free to check it out and tell me if there are any songs listed that you disagree with, or if I'm missing one that you think should definitely be there.

2:03 pm - I'm new!!

Hi everyone!  I'm new to the community!  Anyway, I have a quick question for everyone, do y'all know any good free sheet music sites where I can download (for free, I'm a college student that is low on cash) some musical theatre pieces.  My voice teacher isn't too keen on finding me "that broadway stuff" and I love singing it!  So hopefully if I find my own songs, he'll let me sing them!  Anyway, what I'm really looking for is "Astonishing" from Little Women... so if anyone knows if there's a site out there that has it (for free haha) or if anyone on here has it and can send it to me, that'd be great!  I look forward to hearing from y'all!

Hey. This isn't strictly a broadway question, but it's music.

I saw a phrase two summers ago, that said, "Hold me, I'm (blank.)" The blank was filled with an F-Word that I'm remembering as looking like 'fammetto.' It meant a note that was held.

Does anyone know what the word is? Thanks!
